Nasty children are teasing me, what should I do?

My father was in the government service and he and my mother lived abroad since my birth.


Both of my parents died of cholera abroad, there was no one left, and I was sent to stay at the English clergyman's house. I do not want to stay here. The English clergyman is poor and he has five children nearly all the same age and they wear shabby clothes and are always quarreling and snatching toys from each other. It wouldn't have been that bad if these children didn't tease me. They invented a nickname for me, Basil did, when I was making a garden out of earth and stones and shells, pretending that these were real flower beds. He called me "Mistress Mary, quite contrary", all the other picked it up and now sing this song at me whenever I do. What should I do?

Reply:You try to get away from the taunting. You open a creaky old door at the back of the church. It takes you to a basement covered in dust and cobwebs. You find an old box of books. You discover that each book can take you somewhere historical, while no time passes here. You meet Ghengis Khan, Napoleon, Mozart, Ghandi, Hitler, etc. You wind up with a story that's a cross between The Secret Garden, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Never Ending Story, and The Magic Treehouse.
Reply:Ignore them. If you can't do this, then have a word with your guardians. They're there to help you, but can't unless you open up and tell them. Alternatively, have you tried getting them involved in what you're doing? If they're involved, then they can't tease you about it!!
Reply:Just ignore them.


If you can't do this then tell an adult or another friends- hopefully this will make you feel better. If thing just get worse then tell their parents-try not to react to what they do- if you do react then they will know they are getting to you , just pretend you don't care.
Reply:Sounds like the start of the plot of The Secret Garden to me. (Does anyone really die of cholera anymore? You should change it to AIDS or something.)

Reply:Any1 teases us when v get irritated so first of stop getting irritated n act like u are not even listening to their songs. I can understand how bad u must be feeling, my nephews are similar to these kids. they used to make fun of my intellectual inclinations or music or gardening, i finally stopped giving heed to their remarks n used to smile or just put on my ipod. Even though i was angry inside, i used to be patient n sometimes try to tell them about my hobbies. This didnt change them completely but atleast they got to know that m bold enough to face their remarks n m proud n content of what i do. This self confidence made them respect me n even they started asking me questions like which singer is this? why do u pull out small plants?--- they started taking instrest in my hobbies rather than bullying.


4-5 kids brought up together dont get proper attention n parents cant teach manners to all of them n hence they get rotten. Kids are like clay n its we who can mould them. Try this or else u can find a new place? ? ? try scaring them that u gonna complain their teacher or santa?

i usually be patient at first n if it doesnt work, i rhyme the same thing back (my poetry come to good use lol)...
