How can i save my bean from dying?

my bean was growing and its big head got stuck where a glass jar curves out and when the stem (neck..) grew, half the stem snapped, i transplanted it into a bigger and better container and its still growing but turning a bit brown.. its growing taller but im afraid it wont support itself so i have something under its head.. the shell has suppose to come out but it hasn't split apart yet and only half of it is off.... how can i save it? should the snapped part be under the soil or out? - it's currently out. or should i cut the dried out open part then put it into the soil - that's what i do with the flower to continue grpwng them when its out of the water too long..

How can i save my bean from dying?
im surprised it grew after it broke ,but the fact that it did means theres hope,if the bean shell wont come off you need to remove it,but you need to take care not to break it again,as far as where it broke leave it alone,it's doing ok ,if it lives long enough it will get stronger........if you have a long skinny plant there is not enough light..........tom
