from Mother's day dinner. After having a very nice day I came home to find the neighbor's 3 children vandalizing my cars paint with eggs, and my son's expensive play house with eggs, they also destroyed a freshly planted flower bed.I spoke with their mother who only has them for visitation. and she acted like I was just stirring trouble, the children are all under the age of 10 years old. I feel she should be watching them better. I am tempted to file a police report , but I have already hosed the egg from my car and out of the playhouse you can still see the broken shells on the ground. I am also going to complain to the landlord since he owns the two seperate Duplexs that share the yard. Any real advice would be greatly appreciated.
How would you handle this situation? Neighbors children were in my yard yesterday when I arrived home ,?
The question is more like, how would you have handled this situation. You should have called the police as soon as you got home. Hosed off the car yes, but not the play house. Those kids need some good hard lessons in life or they are going to be in jail by the time they are 15. You are most likely too late to do much about it now. But I would let the mother know that the next time they are in your yard, you will call the police. You need to post "No Trespassing" signs in clear view. Then if they do go in your yard, you can call the police on them trespassing. Good luck!
Reply:well the next time leave you home and if you have a cell phone find a way to drive by after a few hours and call 911 and catch them in the act that is what i would do Report It
Reply:the neighbor just brought me a bouquet of flowers and a gift certificate to the movies and made her son apologize maybe I did do something appropiate and gave her a wake-up call... Report It
Reply:FILE A POLICE REPORT..THE POLICE CAN STILL TAKE THE REPORT EVEN THOUGH THE MESS WAS CLEANED UP(YOU OBSERVED THE INCIDENT..AFFIDAVIT)!
Reply:You washed away your case. Obviously the kids are rotten and completely unsupervised. I don't see her attitude changing anytime soon. And with kids that never get punished, the acts of vandalism always progress. So...keep a camera and video recorder handy. They'll be back. Take pictures of what you do have now so when they do something worse later, the egg shells will be believed. "Give them enough rope to hang themselves".
Reply:call the cops!!~
Reply:I wouldn't tell the landlord. I would very firmly tell the mother what was going on was a criminal offense and since the children are minors, she's responsible for their actions, meaning she's on the hook for any expenses you incur because of her bratty children.
Ask her to pay for the planter and if she doesn't take her to small claims court. Hitting her in her pocket book will go further than getting the landlord on her case.
Reply:File a complaint and stand up for your rights. If you don't, it will get worse. And they will take advantage of you.
Reply:make a police report...they may do it again
Reply:Obviously since the mother only has them for visitation that says it all right there. She is an unfit mother or she would have custody of her children. Count your blessing they are only there for a short time. I feel it will not do any good to cause problems because she does not care. Maybe you could ask the landlord to construct a fence in between the properties for safety purposes. If he says no, then draft a letter of non-responsiblity on your part if the children fall or get injured in your yard. Take it to your Landlord to get his signature on the document. This may open his eyes to the problem. When money starts to get involved he will understand your problem.
Reply:Keep evidence, take pictures, setup a video camera at times when you know they will be there.
Then go to the police, they should go and give her a warning that she may pay attention to. I think they could also charge her with criminal damage as the children are her responsibility.
Reply:an eye for an eye
in my opinion i would just be a good neighbor and return a fresh new tray of eggs with a note. if it happens to be tr own on the washing for the day then so be it. Or get a niece/nephew to throw eggs. legally there is not much you can do since they are minors. a restraining order would be a bit much i would think.
what about a guard dog? or toilet paper soaked in petrol sticks to concrete, well like concrete. A Arsonists handbook is available on various site on the net and many of the revenges are not harmful yet funny
anyway.....
Reply:If this is the first time, then I would find out the reason behind doing it. Speak to the parents. Rushing into filing a police report could undermine your relation with your neighbours and could create animosity. It would also affect the young children, who, I believe, are under ten.
I wonder where their parents were at the time, and why they didn't immediately come over to you to apologize!
Wishing you good luck.
Reply:file a police report.
Reply:You need to call and file a report. "mom" over there obviously isn't going to watch her kids or take responsibility for them. You can go even further and make sure that their dad knows what goes on when they are with mommy - believe me, he wants to know. Good Luck!
Reply:Definitely file a report. They may not do anything, but they will have record. Each time, file a report. Those kids need help and it will help eventually get them there. Don't worry about hurting anyone. It's actually helping! The kids are what's important.
Reply:since you have already talked to the mother, which was a very good idea, i think the best thing you can do is waht you are doing right now. Hopefully the landlord will do something. If that doesn't work then try again to get together w/ the mother and talk to her and tell her that you don't appreciate having your things messedup. If you have kids of your own, maybe you could suggest that on the wekends that she has them that all the kids get together @ one of the houses and play together while supurvised.
Reply:First of all, you should have taken pictures of the kids on your property right away! Most cell phones nowadays have a cam on them. Also, you should have taken pictures of the eggs on the car. Always take pictures of everything that is relevant! Secondly, you should have contacted the police right away, and have them accompany you to your neighbor's house to confront the parents. This way, if she seems neglectfull and apathetic, the police would notate this on their report (which will benefit you greatly should you decide to take the kids' parents through litigation for the vandilization).
Reply:Call the cops and report the incident If you don't correct this... thosse kids will become a criminal...
Reply:Just smile honey, Just smile. Clean it up and invite them to see it.Treat them like human being.Don't fuss around. You will be appreciated not only by your all neighbors, but by yourself.
Reply:OMG, I am sorry what a sucky thing to come home to. I would tell ur neighbor a few things! U were being nice NOT to call the police because I sure would have. I would go over to there house and would have made those kids that made the mess clean it up. I had this happen before but some kids destroyed my swimming pool. I made them clean up there mess, they will never learn if you clean it up!! Good luck to you!!!!
Reply:No two ways about it - call the cops. You addressed the situation with the mother and she wasn't responsive, so call the authorities and have her pay for the damage. Parents are legally responsible for their kids' actions. It's too bad she doesn't take responsibility, but then that is probably why the kids are the way they are. Good luck.
Reply:Press charges, Vandalism,Trespassing, and sue the parents for negligence, and damages..%26gt;Take Pictures lots of pictures.
Reply:I would run inside, grab the butcher knife and chase them with it!!!!!!!!! And scream abuse at them telling them to get the hell of my property!!!! after that i would call the police! Those little huligans, someone ought to give them a good wack on the butt!!!!
