Can chicken eggs shell (crushed) be used as fertliser in flower plants?

most plants do! Let them dry good first or you may get mold. Crush them up and if possible mix it up in the soil a bit. Another good thing for plants is the water that you cook veggies in... of course when you drain the fluid off, let it cool and plants love this! They will get nice and green! Coffee ground is good too. But just like anything use all in moderation... too much may not always be a good thing.

YES! I put a single egg shell in a mid sized aloe plant Ive had forever and the thing shot up to HUGE size out of nowhere.

Use those egg shells boy!
Reply:My grandmother used crushed egg shells to settle the coffee grounds in her boiled coffee. They used to make coffee like that. Then she spread the coffe grounds and shells around her rose bushes. She grew beautiful roses.
Reply:yes...definitely!!!! also, the sharp edges cut and deter slugs as do pennies dated before 1984. The copper shocks them.....cruel yes, however I hate those slugs!!!
Reply:Yes, and they love it for the calcium and other minerals. They also like weak tea and coffee grounds.
Reply:Yes it is good for plants! Also the water you boil eggs with pour over plants after cools down they love that like liquid vitamins! Good luck!
Reply:Probably one of the best things you can use for fertilizer is crushed egg shells. I believe it's nitrogen that it offers. Another awesome thing is fish carcasses . . . but they can attract rodents like raccoons etc.

Which of the following would most likely be found as a fossil:a clam, shell, flower petal or an ancient worm? Why

Clam. They have the hardest shells, and are least subject to decomposition.

A flower petal would be least likely. Petals and worms would leave trace fossils--fossil impressions in clay. But they have no hard parts that would survive to mineralization.

the shell, or clam shell.. your commas confuse me. but it has to do with the material its orignally made of, and how it reacts to the fossilization process. the other items would be more likely to decompose rather then fossilize

Could someone tell me what coffee grounds,& egge shell does for a flower garden?

Coffee grounds %26amp; egg shells add nutrients to the soil, keeps away slugs %26amp; snails, %26amp; (when mixed into the soil) is a good environment for earthworm activity. Egg shells are rich in calcium.

Coffee grounds are good for acid-loving plants. It also helps the soil retain moisture when it is mixed into it.

A lab test analysis showed that: "the grounds provide generous amounts of phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and copper.

They also release nitrogen into the soil as they degrade."

The full report is here:

Encircling your plants with coffee grounds %26amp; eggshells makes a barrier to repel snails %26amp; slugs, %26amp; works as a slow release fertilizer. If you are into vermi-posting, feed a little bit to your worms

The grounds are acidic so mix a tablespoon of garden lime into a five pound bag before you dig them into your garden or put them on the compost pile. In the garden, mix at a rate of five pounds per three square feet. For composting, mix at a ratio of five pounds per three cubic feet of yard waste.

You're welcome!

Thanks for the positive feedback, everyone!!!

I'm learning as I research... and I'm finding that the resources here on the internet are truly amazing :) Report It

Reply:Coffee grounds act like a mulch plus add nutrients , egg shell,s add calcium,
Reply:Egg shells provide calcium to your garden while coffee grounds provide a high content of nitrogen to your garden. Calcium and nitrogen supplements (egg shells and coffee grounds) will help keep your garden soil and plants healthy.
Reply:Angel said it all...nice answer! Just watch for ants to invade. Be ready with some type of bug killer just in case...
Reply:Coffee grounds is a good source of nitrogen -acid loving plants- like Hibiscus,Hydrangeas

Roses and many other plants, also good for earthworms. Eggshells good in Calcium you can brake up the shells and put around plants to help kill slugs and snail
Reply:it is called a compost... the soil absorbs the nutrients from food materials.... you can add many things to a compost you have to allow for the material to breakdown before using in your garden....

What happens if you eat the shell of a sun flower seed?

ok so i ate some sun flower seeds and then later my mom told me you arent suppose to eat the shell

What happens if you eat the shell of a sun flower seed?
Your not supposed to eat the shell. Your'e meant to eat the inside. Lol. But if yooh do swallow it, it will be hard to digest.
Reply:My son prefers them whole rather than just the seeds. Never has any problem.
Reply:I'm gonna shoot myself.
Reply:Gives you extra fiber. I'm 44 and I still where a Bikini and have no scars from appendix removal...Honey there is no real answer here.Just remember everything in moderation.
Reply:i love eating the entire thing, not just the seed.

and its actually good for you, just a little hard to digest.

shouldn't be a problem though.
Reply:I will tell you the honest to Gods' truth on that one. I never ate

the shells since my mother warned me when I was little. But

my girlfriend didn't listen to me, when I told her they were too

hard to digest and not to eat them. Well she paid the price

one day getting ready for school. She had to be taken to the

ER, for an appendectomy which came on suddenly. The doctor told her, following an emergency appendectomy, he found remains of the sunflower seed shells

inside her appendix. He told her the appendix has to come

out when it gets full of things that isn't digested (some swallow gum too and that isn't digested). Normally

we can go our entire lives without having an appendicitus.

And she was 15. He told her she should have listened to me

and her mom. And since she now had no appendix, she definitely couldn't eat anymore shells. So that was a good lesson for me to learn. I never eat any shells of any nut, and I don't even eat the thick sausage casings that are tough to chew either. I have made it t hrough my life so far without having to have my appendix out. And I hope it's healthy til I die for not takingany risks. So don't listen to those who say eating the shells won't do you any harm. My girlfriend has the largest scar from having surgery to this day. It doesn't look too cool when she is wearing a bikini, let me tell you. You might keep that in mind and take the time to break them

open next time. Better safe and being cautious.
Reply:I do that all the time, and the only bad thing is that the shell is hard to digest. Other than that, theres really no harm in doing so.

=]
Reply:nothing at all but it could cause you to choke if it goes down the wrong passage way.
Reply:A Sunflower grows inside ya!!!

No....J/K

Nothing happens...you just end up pooping out.

Sometimes if i get too lazy i chew the whole thing really really good %26amp; swallow it all ..so it doesn't scratch while it's going down

What would you do if a piece of shell like a flower seed is lodged in your throat?

I have ate a piece of shell [flower seed] and it got stuck but I'm am still alive, and doesn't know what to do?Please help me, I am 10 years old.

What would you do if a piece of shell like a flower seed is lodged in your throat?
Do a self Heimlich maneuver! Put your fist above your belly button and just under your sternum, push in a little, now put your other hand over it, find a chair or counter or table edge and shove into it hard! Making the fist push in and up on the diaphragm. A big burst of air should propel the shell out of you! Good luck! Call 911 if it doesn't get out after 2 tries!
Reply:If it's not too far down, try to cough it out but not too hard or you'll hurt yourself. You can try to eat something soft yet what takes up your entire esophagus. I'm Asian so we eat fish and when we get fish spines stuck, we eat rice to push it down. Liquids won't help because it'll just go through the open areas. I suggest some bread?
Reply:Go tell your parents...and start drinking water or something. Or eat some bread.
